Arches was fun, the bonus was meeting Ken and I’m sure I’ll see him again when I double back past southern California. Amazing how many people one meets on the road. Recovering from the hell day of worrying I’m back on the road and, as Ceire (my magic Northern Ireland photographer friend) suggested, I’m off to Page Arizona, where I will explore the Colorado river and the Antelope Canyon.

At the border between Utah and Arizona is the Monument Valley, a rock formation that has national status, I did not go in for the 40 miles drive trough, just took some pics on the way. In the process I also entered my 8th state, Arizona.

Eventually got to Page which has one only campground, the next one is 120 miles away. The little choice was not a problem as the camp was sweet and with reasonable internet and a pool.

Upon approach I visited the Antelope Canyon entrance sites and got all the info so the plan for tomorrow ill be: trip to Horseshoe bend in the morning to catch the morning light, go to Lower and Upper Antelope Canyon, then go back to Horseshoe bend in the afternoon to catch in a different light.

And with the GoPro. better image but terrible lighting.

The visit to the bend in the morning proved to be a bit of a fiasco, 2 miles hike for really poor pictures. Off to Antelope bend now and hopefully will get better pictures of the bend in the afternoon.

WARNING: I could not stop myself from taking pictures of the canyon so here follows an interminable number of pictures that I will not caption, in the main.

Between canyon one and canyon two I have an hour break so I decide to go down to the Lake Powell, another National Recreation Area that I don’t have to pay for with my yearly National Park Card.

If you’re still with me then you merit a medal, not sure why I kept them all other than I was mesmerized by the whole thing.

Fortunately I had the GoPro.

I met some nice people during the day, Italians from Milan on a desert holiday, Lebanese Americans that gave me some opinions on the election and, at the campsite, a proper Navajo Chief. I liked page, a bit hot, but very deserving a visit.
